B-BBEE update

MAC Consulting is committed to supporting transformation and Black Economic Empowerment in South Africa. Consequently, we have taken actions and are implementing a strategy that is aligned to the objectives and goals of the Mining Charter (as referred to in the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act), and the Code of Good Practice developed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

With regards to Ownership Equity, in 2007 MAC concluded a B-BBEE transaction whereby 26% of MAC’s equity is owned by black employees, through an employees' trust. As a result MAC meets the Mining Charter requirements in respect to ownership and is classified as a “Black Empowered” supplier.

In respect of the remaining aspects of the DTI scorecard, we have been prioritising our commitment since 2010 and have made much progress on this front. We have a committee dedicated to monitoring all seven areas on the DTI scorecard: Ownership, Management Control, Employment Equity, Skills Development, Preferential Procurement, Enterprise Development and Socio-Economic Development, and were pleased to receive the steadily improving audit result of Level 4 recently for FY 2011.
