Business Sustainability

Tjaart Coetzee, one of our Principal Consultants, talks about his participation in the Business Sustainability Programme at Cambridge

In May, I attended the second block of a programme in Business Sustainability in Cambridge, UK.  For two and a half days, we had the benefit of top-quality academic and business leaders sharing their ideas on various topics ranging from climate change, the role of leaders in sustainability, developing and implementing sustainability programmes in the business environment and the role of business in poverty alleviation.  Highlights included Jonathon Porritt’s views on the nature of a sustainable global economy and a very practical session with the designer of Marks & Spencers’ “Plan A (Because there is no plan B)”.  The lectures were interspersed with opportunities for team discussions, a tour of the 400-year old gardens, croquet, a wee dram and an English version of a braai (I’m afraid they don’t have a clue!).  I’m really looking forward to the third block in September to once again
meet new friends from all around the world and continue this wonderful learning experience.
